Hindsight Privacy Policy

Hindsight is a Chrome extension that archives your ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, DeepSeek and Grok chats and lets you search them. It is built so that your data never leaves your computer.

What we collect

Nothing. We do not collect, receive, store or sell any personal data. There are no accounts, no servers and no analytics or tracking.

What stays on your device

When you use chatgpt.com, claude.ai, gemini.google.com, perplexity.ai, chat.deepseek.com or grok.com, Hindsight reads your own conversations and saves them in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB), along with your settings, tags and favorites. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted by Hindsight.

Network requests

Hindsight sends no data to us or to any third party. Its only network requests go to the AI sites themselves (chatgpt.com, claude.ai, gemini.google.com, www.perplexity.ai, chat.deepseek.com, grok.com), using your own logged-in session, to fetch your own chats. It does not load remote code.

Permissions

The extension uses the "storage" permission and content scripts on https://chatgpt.com/*, https://claude.ai/*, https://gemini.google.com/*, https://www.perplexity.ai/*, https://chat.deepseek.com/* and https://grok.com/*, solely to read and archive your chats locally.

Sharing and exports

Exports (Markdown, JSON, image cards) are created on your device and saved or copied only when you choose. What you do with them afterwards is up to you.

Deleting your data

Remove the extension from Chrome (chrome://extensions) and all data stored by Hindsight is deleted from your browser.

Hindsight is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Perplexity, DeepSeek or xAI.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version and date will be published here.
